Pregnancy Massage in Bexhill
A little time to look after the body that's doing an extraordinary amount already.
Pregnancy can be wonderful. It can also be tiring, uncomfortable and a time when your body suddenly doesn't feel quite like the one you're used to.
Our specialist Pregnancy Massage is adapted around you, your pregnancy and your comfort — giving you time to get comfortable, slow everything down and let somebody look after you for a change.
Massage that changes with you
Your comfort comes first.
Pregnancy massage isn't simply one of our usual massages with a bump to work around.
Our therapists have completed specialist pregnancy massage training, so the treatment is adapted to the physical changes that happen during pregnancy — including your positioning, pressure, comfort and the areas we work on.
We'll talk about how far along you are, how you're feeling and whether there's anything we need to know before we begin. Then we'll help you get properly comfortable using supportive positioning and pillows where needed.
You won't be expected to fit around the massage. The massage fits around you.
Why book pregnancy massage?
A treatment that's allowed to be about you.
There are plenty of exaggerated claims made about pregnancy massage. We'd rather be clear about what a thoughtfully adapted massage can realistically offer.
Time to properly relax
A protected hour where there's nowhere else you need to be and nothing else you need to do.
Proper comfort
Supportive positioning means you aren't expected to lie awkwardly simply because that's how a standard massage is normally performed.
Tired muscles
As your body changes, your back, shoulders and legs can feel different too. We can adapt the treatment around the areas that feel tired or tense.
Something just for you
So many pregnancy appointments are about measurements, plans and your baby. This one isn't. This one is for you.
What to expect
What happens during your Pregnancy Massage?
We'll begin with a consultation. We'll ask about your pregnancy, how you're feeling, your general health and anything that may affect your treatment.
We'll also ask what you'd most like from your appointment. Perhaps your back feels tired. Maybe your shoulders are tight. Or perhaps nothing particularly hurts and you simply want to relax.
We'll then help position you comfortably on the treatment bed, using appropriate support and pillows. Your therapist will adapt the massage around you and check that you're comfortable throughout.
Once you're settled, there's nothing you need to do.
Close your eyes. Talk if you'd like to. Don't if you don't. This is your time.
Your treatment
Pregnancy Massage
60 minutes · £XX
A specialist massage available from 12 weeks of pregnancy, adapted around your changing body using appropriate positioning, support and massage techniques to create a comfortable, deeply relaxing treatment.
A little reassurance
Your safety matters as much as your relaxation.
We offer Pregnancy Massage from 12 weeks onwards, and our therapists providing the treatment have completed specialist pregnancy massage training.
Before your massage, we'll ask some questions about your pregnancy and general health. There may be circumstances where we need to adapt or postpone treatment, or ask you to speak to your midwife, GP or maternity team first.
This isn't there to make your appointment feel clinical.
It's there so we can look after you properly. Pregnancy massage is a complementary treatment and doesn't replace your usual antenatal or medical care.

Questions you might have
-
Our Pregnancy Massage is available from 12 weeks of pregnancy onwards. Our therapists delivering the treatment have completed specialist pregnancy massage training, and the massage is adapted around your stage of pregnancy, health and comfort. If your pregnancy is high risk, you've experienced complications, or you're unsure whether massage is appropriate for you, please tell us before booking. Depending on your circumstances, we may recommend checking with your midwife, GP or maternity team first.

You won't be expected to lie in a position that isn't comfortable simply because you're having a massage. Pregnancy massage uses adapted, supported positioning, with pillows or bolsters where needed. We'll help you get settled before we begin and can change your position at any point. And please tell us if something isn't comfortable — you don't get extra points for putting up with an annoying pillow for an hour.
-
Pregnancy massage is specifically adapted for pregnancy, which is why we only offer it from 12 weeks and with therapists who have completed the appropriate specialist training. Your consultation is important because every pregnancy is different. There are circumstances where massage may need to be adapted, postponed or discussed with your maternity team first. We'll never make assumptions simply because another pregnant client was able to have the treatment. Pregnancy massage complements your usual maternity care; it doesn't replace it.
-
Your treatment can be adapted around the areas that are appropriate to massage and what you'd most like from your appointment. We'll talk to you beforehand about where you're feeling tired or tense, where you'd particularly like some attention and anything you'd rather we avoided. The treatment doesn't need to be identical to the pregnant client who came in before you — we'll work within our specialist training and tailor the massage around you.
-
Please tell us before booking. “High risk” can mean many different things, so we won't try to make a blanket decision without understanding your circumstances. Depending on what's happening in your pregnancy, treatment may need to be adapted or postponed, or we may ask you to speak to your midwife, GP or maternity team before we go ahead. We'd always rather have that conversation beforehand and make sure we're looking after you appropriately.
-
Not every client needs individual medical permission simply because they're pregnant. However, your individual health and pregnancy matter. If there are complications, new or unexplained symptoms, or anything in your consultation that means massage may not be appropriate, we may ask you to seek advice from your midwife, GP or maternity team before treatment. If you're already concerned about whether massage is suitable for you, we'd encourage you to ask them before booking and then let us know what you've been advised.
-
Wear whatever you're comfortable arriving in. Before your treatment, your therapist will explain what clothing needs to be removed for the areas being massaged and will give you privacy to get ready.
You'll be appropriately covered throughout your treatment, with only the area being worked on uncovered. And as with everything else during your Pregnancy Massage, if there's something you're not comfortable with, tell us. We can talk you through what we're doing and adapt where appropriate.
Pregnancy can already make getting dressed and undressed feel like enough of an event some days — there's no need to arrive in anything special for us.
-
We don't assume that an essential oil is suitable during pregnancy simply because it's natural. Pregnancy changes which products and ingredients may be appropriate, so anything used during your treatment will follow our specialist pregnancy massage training and the guidance for the products we use. If you have sensitivities, allergies or particular concerns about a product or fragrance, please tell us before your treatment.
-
Then we stop. You're pregnant — nobody at Butterfly You is going to be horrified because you need the toilet. If you become uncomfortable, need another pillow, want to change position, need a drink or simply need a minute, tell us. The treatment fits around you, not the other way around.
