Our eyebrows make up a significant part of our beauty regime. Whether you like to keep on top of stray hairs at home or come into the salon for your regular shape and tint, there are lots of ways to style and maintain your brows.
With so many styles and unique ways to wear your brows we thought we would take a look at some of the brow trends of 2022.
You may have also heard that we have just launched a brand new eyebrow treatment which we are so excited to share with you… and it’s the first trend on our list!
Brow lamination
We have been excited about brow lamination for a little while now and we felt that 2022 was the right time to train and offer this transformative treatment in the salon. It is by far one of the most popular brow treatments out there and by using a special cream to relax the hairs, we can style the brows into place to create a look that can last up to 8 weeks. Celebs like Gigi Hadid and Dua Lipa among those who love brow lamination.
Natural brows
Next up, is natural brows. We are experts at helping you achieve brows that suit your face. Sticking to your natural shape, removing the strays and giving them a tidy up to make them more defined, is, more often than not, the most effective look.
Straight brows
Another popular trend this year is straight brow. Exactly how they sound, straight brows have very little arch definition and a straighter tail. This style is not a new as you may think, it is a classic and was loved by Audrey Hepburn. In 2022, Zendaya and Cara Delevigne are big fans.
Fluffy brows
Singer, Billie Eilish is a huge advocate of the fluffy brow. Similar to the ‘au natural’ look, the fluffy brow is achieved by brushing up the brow hairs, so that your skin can peek through. This is a style that is less defined and uses minimal pencils and powders.
Semi-permanent brows
Microblading/tattooing is something that we have been offering for a little while now, but it is a fantastic and long-lasting way to create your desired brow style. It has become extremely popular if you have very sparse eyebrow hair, the wrong eyebrow shape for your face, or you’d like thicker and fuller eyebrows. It works by implanting pigment into the skin and can last up to three years, with touch up treatments in between.

It’s time to de-stress this April
The World Health Organization says that stress is one of the most significant problems of our time. As if our lives weren’t stressful enough, we’ve had to deal with a global pandemic for the last two years.
De-stress during stress awareness week
Did you know that April is stress awareness month?
The World Health Organization says that stress is one of the most significant problems of our time. As if our lives weren’t stressful enough, we’ve had to deal with a global pandemic for the last two years.
Stress comes in many different forms, but generally, it is a feeling of emotional or physical tension and our body’s way of reacting to a certain challenge or demand.
Some of us might experience the emotional signs of stress, such as constantly worrying or feeling forgetful. Others of us may experience physical signs, such as muscle tension or headaches. Some of us may experience both of these, while others don’t notice anything at all.
But don’t worry, there are a few that can help you to destress, relax and relieve tension.
Perhaps you could try:
Exercise
Exercise is not only good for your physical health, but it’s also great for your mental health. Walking or jogging for at least 10 minutes will help to release endorphins into the bloodstream and boost your mood.
If running isn’t your thing, then how about something more calming like yoga? Yoga brings together the mind and body to encourage relaxation and decrease the secretion of cortisol, the primary stress hormone.
Eating healthy foods
Stress can have a negative impact on our blood flow which can cause fluctuations in brain blood flow and brain health. However, by adding omega-3s (found in oily fish and flaxseed), and vitamin E (found in sunflower seeds, almonds, spinach, and avocados), to your diet you can alleviate stress.
Get outside
With the weather (hopefully) about to get sunnier and warmer, you’ll be able to spend some time outdoors. You may like to get out into the garden and look after your plants or perhaps you could take a stroll along the seafront, whatever it is, getting outside in natural sunlight helps your body to release serotonin and boost Vitamin D levels.
Massage
But perhaps the best way to combat stress is with a massage! We specialise in massage and holistic therapies and know how relaxing and beneficial they can be.
You can choose from our traditional massages or explore something a little more specialist, such as an Indian head massage or reflexology. But exclusively for the month of April, you can book our Stress Reliever Pamper Package.
This three-part treatment is the ultimate in relaxation. Starting with a warming Lava Shells massage, complemented by aromatherapy oils, we’ll ease the tension in your back, neck and shoulders. Next, we’ll work on your legs and feet to make you feel like you’re walking on air. Finally, we’ll end with a Divine Escape head massage to clear your head of any stressful thoughts and relieve tight muscles for a deeply calming, unwinding experience.
Complementary Therapy Week
Complementary therapies are natural and non-toxic and can work together or independently to help you relax, reduce stress, and promote self-healing.
The wonderful healing power of Complementary therapy
Complementary Therapy Week takes place each third week in March and is all about exploring the wonderful healing power of holistic treatments such as massages, aromatherapy, and reflexology.
Complementary therapies are natural and non-toxic and can work together or independently to help you relax, reduce stress, and promote self-healing. They can also work alongside, or complement, other forms of treatment or medication to relieve ailments or illnesses.
Within holistic therapy, there is a theory that positive emotions can improve your health. If you feel calm and relaxed then you can combat anxiety and increase your general sense of wellbeing. Generally, a happy mind leads to a happy body!
At Butterfly You Beauty and Holistic, we are passionate about the holistic side of beauty therapy. We specialise in massage and love helping you feel relaxed and rejuvenated.
What complementary therapies can you book at Butterfly You?
Aromatherapy
Our aromatherapy treatment is often combined with a massage. Natural plant extracts are blended together to create essential oils that help to promote a healthy body, mind, and spirit. The essential oils can be inhaled or massaged into the skin to help:
ease long-lasting pain,
improve sleep,
and relieve stress, anxiety and depression.
Once you book in, we can discuss your needs and recommend the best essential oil to help alleviate your problems.
Massage therapy
Massages are among our most popular treatments at Butterfly You. Using manual hands-on movements to manipulate the soft tissues and muscles in the body, massage therapy promotes:
relaxation,
manages aches and pains,
encourages self-healing,
eases tight and sore muscles
and ultimately enhances overall wellbeing.
There are several different types of massage at Butterfly You, including traditional full-body or Swedish massage, Indian Head massage, and Lava Shells massage where we use heated shells to enhance the experience.
Reflexology
Reflexology, sometimes referred to as zone therapy, is another popular treatment where we apply pressure to certain zone points on your feet. Each point corresponds to a different organ or system in the body, and massaging these areas can help to:
improve blood supply,
improve digestion,
aid fertility,
and bring balance to your body.
To celebrate Complementary Therapy Week (20th -26th March) we’re giving you 25% off massage treatments.

Take care of your feet during National Feet Week
National Feet Week is the perfect opportunity for you to take extra care of your feet.
National Feet Week takes place each year and is the perfect opportunity to take extra care of your feet.
Did you know that our feet are one of the most complex and important parts of our bodies? There are 26 bones, 33 joints, and more than 100 ligaments, muscles, and tendons in one adult foot!
Our feet go through a lot on a daily basis. If you think about how long you stand up each day or how many steps you take, it soon adds up and takes its toll. So taking some time to care for your feet on a regular basis makes a lot of sense.
And who doesn’t love a foot rub every once in a while?
So why is it important to take care of your feet?
As we get older, the daily wear and tear on our feet become more noticeable. Skin starts to become thinner, and it can become dry and cracked more easily. Toenails become harder and more brittle, and you may start to notice more regular aches and pains.
Some of these aches and pains may start to develop into other problems if you don’t take good care of your feet.
For instance, if you have a problem, you may start to avoid putting pressure on particular areas of your foot or feet. Whether consciously or subconsciously, you will naturally compensate, which can have knock-on effects on your posture, lead to back pain, put stress on joints, or cause muscular problems.
How can you look after your feet?
But there are lots of everyday things you can do to promote good foot health. After all, healthy feet are the foundation of a healthy body.
Check your feet
Keeping an eye on your feet and regularly checking them is one of the best ways to spot problems. Giving them a once over when you’re getting dressed in the morning or as you’re drying them after getting out of the shower will help you spot anything that’s not quite right. Ensuring you dry your feet properly will help prevent fungal infections like athletes' feet.
Moisturise
Applying moisturiser (but not between the toes) and making this part of your daily routine can help keep your feet supple as they begin to dry out and lose their natural oils as you age. We recommend using The Body Shop Peppermint Intensive cooling foot rescue.
Keep your feet warm
Keeping your feet warm is good for your feet and the rest of your body. Warm feet help keep blood flowing freely around the body during the day, and come night time can help you drop off and enjoy a good night’s sleep.
Trim your nails
Toenails grow 2-3 times slower than fingernails, so their maintenance is a little less taxing, but keeping them trimmed and cut to a good length can prevent them from pressing against your shoes which can cause soreness and possible infection. Toenails that are poorly cut could also become ingrown, causing soreness and discomfort.
Wear comfortable shoes
It is really important to wear comfortable, well-fitting shoes that provide adequate support. This is particularly important if you work in a job that requires you to stand and move around a lot during the day.
Exercise regularly
Keeping active and exercising can help keep your body fit and healthy while toning muscles and strengthening the arches in your feet.
...Or you can let us take care of your feet!
Pedicures
Our pedicures will leave your feet looking great and feeling completely rejuvenated. We trim and file the toenails, tidy the cuticles, remove hard and dry skin, exfoliate, and relieve tension with a soothing leg and foot massage. And during our Butterfly Deluxe Pedicure, we dip your feet into a warm, essential oil-infused paraffin wax to create a foot mask. Once the wax has set, we place your feet into heated boots so the foot mask can work into your skin, helping to ease tension, arthritis, and aching joints and muscles and leave your feet feeling nourished, relaxed and hydrated.
Reflexology
Reflexology, also known as zone therapy, has been practised for centuries. It involves massage techniques where pressure is applied to certain zone points on the feet that correspond to different organs and systems in the body.
Like traditional massage, reflexology can be extremely relaxing and works to remove toxins from the body. This promotes self-healing, aids digestion, and relieves symptoms of stress and illness.
So if you’d like to treat your feet this national feet week, give us a call to book one of our fabulous pedicures.
And remember, if you do have any concerns about your feet, then you can call your GP or book an appointment with a podiatrist.
4 amazing benefits of a regular manicure and pedicure
Did you know that a regular manicure and pedicure can have some amazing benefits as well as provide you with beautiful looking nails?
We absolutely love creating stunning nail designs for our clients and helping them to feel relaxed each time they step into the salon. Manicures and pedicures are among our most popular treatments, but there is much more to them than just lovely nails. A regular manicure and pedicure provides you with lots of other benefits too.
1. Healthy nails and skin
One of the biggest benefits of a regular manicure and pedicure is healthy, strong nails and soft skin.
Our hands and feet go through a lot on a daily basis, so when you visit the salon we know how important it is to take care of your hands and feet. Our manicures and pedicures remove dead skill cells which helps to encourage new skin cell growth. These new cells act as a guard against nails splitting and becoming brittle, and stops the skin on the soles of your feet from hardening. This leaves you with beautiful, strong nails and soft, smooth feet.
2. Boosts circulation
Part of our manicures and pedicures involve a soothing hand or foot massage. This is not only relaxing, but it is an effective way to boost circulation - something we could all do with during the winter months. Plus better circulation promotes nail growth.
The effect of the massage increases blood flow around the body and helps to improve mobility and any aches or pains you might have.
3. Improves wellbeing
It feels good to pamper yourself. So having a regular manicure or pedicure is a great way to boost your mood and make you feel great.
Not only does a regularly booked appointment give you something to look forward to, you have some dedicated time for yourself where you can relax, destress, and chat to one of our lovely therapists.
4. Gives you confidence
Taking care of your nails, both in terms of how they look and their condition, can make you feel great long after you leave the salon. It’s a lovely feeling to receive compliments and those compliments help to boost confidence.
Choosing a beautiful nail design or a glamorous new colour lets you be expressive, helping you to look and feel great.
