Butterfly You · Beauty Treatments
Waxing & Hair Removal
Smooth skin, without making it a big thing.
Whether waxing is simply part of your usual beauty routine or you're booking for the first time, we'll make the experience feel as straightforward and comfortable as possible.
We offer facial and body waxing, intimate waxing and selected male waxing treatments, using professional waxes chosen for the area being treated.
You don't need to arrive knowing all the terminology — particularly when it comes to intimate waxing. We'll make sure you know exactly what your chosen treatment includes before we begin.
Choose the area you'd like waxed and we'll take it from there.

Which should I book?
If the names all sound vaguely familiar but you're not completely sure what's removed, you're not alone.
Bikini
Hair is removed from the standard bikini line.
£20
Brazilian
Hair is removed from the middle and back, with a small rectangular strip left at the front.
£33
Thong
Goes approximately 1½ inches further in than a standard bikini wax, leaving a narrower shape.

For intimate waxing we use hot wax, which is particularly suited to coarser hair and sensitive areas and is designed to make removal as comfortable as possible.
Not sure which style you want? Tell us before we begin. We'd rather clarify exactly what you want removed than make assumptions.
Feeling self-conscious?
You don't need to apologise for being here.
Intimate waxing can feel daunting if you've never had it before — mainly because you don't know what to expect.
Please don't worry about how you look, how much hair you have or whether you're “supposed” to know what to do.
This is a professional treatment that our therapists carry out routinely. We'll explain what we need from you, keep the appointment as straightforward as possible and make sure you know what is happening before we start.
You don't need to act completely relaxed for our benefit. Helping you feel comfortable is part of the treatment.

Questions you might have
-
For the wax to grip the hair properly, it needs enough length above the skin.
As a guide, aim for around ¼–½ inch of growth. If your hair is coarse, closer to ½ inch is usually better.
If you've been shaving, that often means allowing roughly a couple of weeks of growth, although everybody's hair grows at a different rate.
If the hair is too short, the wax may not be able to remove it cleanly.
-
You will feel the hair being removed, so we'd rather not pretend waxing is completely painless.
How uncomfortable it feels varies with the area, your individual sensitivity, how coarse the hair is and whether you wax regularly.
Good technique and using an appropriate wax for the area can make a big difference. Intimate areas are treated with hot wax because it is well suited to coarser hair and delicate skin.
If you're nervous, tell us. Knowing it's your first time helps us explain things properly rather than assuming you know what to expect.
-
We'll begin by confirming exactly which style you've booked and what hair you want removed.
Your therapist will explain how to position yourself and what clothing needs to be removed. You'll have privacy to get ready, and we'll keep you covered wherever possible while still being able to treat the area safely and effectively.
Wax is applied in sections and removed progressively rather than everything happening at once.
You can ask questions at any point. There is no expectation that you already know the routine.
-
A Bikini wax removes hair outside the standard bikini line.
A Thong goes further in, leaving a narrower shape.
A Brazilian removes hair from the middle and back while leaving a small strip at the front.
A Hollywood removes all hair from the front, middle and back.
If you're unsure, ask us before treatment. We'd much rather clarify than remove more hair than you intended.
-
Usually you don't need to do anything dramatic beforehand.
If the hair is particularly long, a small trim may make the treatment easier, but avoid cutting it too short because the wax still needs enough length to grip.
If you're uncertain, leave it alone and let us advise you rather than risking trimming too much.
-
Loose, comfortable clothing is usually the best choice, particularly for leg, bikini or intimate waxing.
Freshly waxed skin can feel warm or sensitive, so tight clothing rubbing against the area immediately afterwards may be uncomfortable.
For intimate waxing, wear underwear you're comfortable removing or adjusting depending on the treatment you've booked.
-
Many people with sensitive skin can still be waxed, but sensitive doesn't mean every skin situation should automatically be treated.
Please tell us about allergies, skin conditions, recent reactions, medication, topical products or treatments that may make the skin more fragile.
We choose wax according to the area being treated, but there are situations where waxing may need to be adapted or postponed.
We'd rather know before we start than discover halfway through that your skin wasn't suitable that day.
-
Waxing removes hair from the root, so the skin usually stays smoother for longer than it would after shaving.
Exactly how long varies because hair grows in cycles and everyone's growth rate is different.
With regular waxing, many clients book again every few weeks once enough new growth is present for the wax to grip properly.
-
You can, but it may make your waxing routine less consistent.
Shaving cuts the hair at skin level, so you'll then need to wait for enough length to grow back before the next wax.
If you're trying to establish a regular waxing routine, leaving the hair to grow between appointments usually makes the timing easier.
-
Freshly waxed skin can be more sensitive for a short period afterwards.
We'll give you aftercare advice, but as a general rule it's sensible to avoid things that add heat, friction or irritation immediately after treatment — for example very hot baths, saunas, intense exercise, swimming or heavily fragranced products on the area.
Loose clothing and gentle skincare are usually a better choice for the rest of the day.
-
If you already know how your skin responds to waxing, booking a little before the event usually gives any temporary redness time to settle while still leaving the result fresh.
If it's your first wax — especially an intimate wax — we'd avoid making the first appointment immediately before an important event or flight if you can.
If you're also having a spray tan, the order matters. Waxing should generally come first so the skin has time to settle before tanning.
-
Often, yes, but you may feel more sensitive than usual.
For intimate waxing you'll need to use appropriate internal protection such as a tampon or menstrual cup if treatment is going ahead.
If you're feeling particularly uncomfortable, tender or simply don't want the appointment that day, rearranging is completely reasonable.
